Friendship, Fun, and Singing...LVC Style!
Mission
Statement
The Lehigh
Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines is a dynamic group of talented women who come
together in friendship to sing and grow musically, to benefit from and to
promote music education, and to offer the community cultural enrichment through
quality performances of four-part a capella harmony, barbershop style.
About
the Chorus
The Lehigh
Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International has been educating and
entertaining the people of the Lehigh
Valley
since 1958. The chorus is comprised
of women of all ages and backgrounds who come together to share their love of
singing four-part harmony, the barbershop style, and dynamic showmanship and
choreography. A strong feeling of
camaraderie bonds the members of this chorus.
Their sense of humor and love of life is apparent to all who have seen
them perform.
Barbershop
Singing
Barbershop is a unique style of choral music which is sung a capella, meaning without accompaniment, and consists of one melody part (the lead) and three harmony parts (tenor, baritone, and bass). Songs arranged in the barbershop include a wide variety of popular, Broadway, choral, and folk music and encompass songs from the early 1900's through to 2009! Our repertoire include songs written by Irving Berlin and Billy Joel, performed by Elvis and Bette Midler, and from Broadway musical, Wicked.
